Stepparents and stepchildren

The relationship between ones mother and father are so nourished and not forced. The parents who have a child normally decide that it is what would be best for them as a family. However in some cases it doesnt always end happily. Some parents rush into things and dont think about the consequences. Like divorce which splits up the children. Plus those poor children have to learn how to deal with there true parents getting remarried.

In ficton it seems that this would be the best way for a childs life to be because there new step parents would get them anything they want, so when children are young they often wish for this to happen to them. The step parents most of the time dont know how to handle the child, thats why they just want to keep them happy. Plus they want there approval for when there parents ask them what they think about there new beloved. Yet in real life, thats not always how it goes.

In real life, step parents can be disasterous. I know that being a step child is not fun at all. My first step mom was the one that I truely loved. She made me feel like I was her child which is what every step child wants. Not to be lavished with gifts, loved. Yet when hers and my fathers child came I was jealous because I thought she was favoring Scarlet and not me. Because she would always make me do everything while Scarlet just sat on her bottom and did nothing. But once her and my father got a divorce I realized that she only made me do those things to give me a good work ethic, which I greatly appreciate. I still talk to her to this day becasue she is more like my mom then my birth mom. Me and Kim had a bond that was never broken because she treated me like her child and she treated me like I belonged there. Yet once my dad started dating again I realized how difficult it was going to be to be close to another woman the same. He started dating this woman that was a good prospected wife, yet she tried to mother a seventeen year old, I didnt like that too much because to me she didnt have the authority to do so. So my dad ended up breaking it off with her for some unknown reason. Then he started dating this woman named Barb. Well lets just say she moved in within a week and then while I was off getting my navy sister from the airport, they got married. Yet I didnt get told this til two days afterwards. Me and Barb have yet to form any relationship at all. I actually think that if i couldve choosen between Barb and the girl before her i would have choosen the girl before her.

Being a step child and having a step parent is very difficult. They have to form this bond where each individual knows there boundaries. With my ex-step mom we formed a great bond because she was with me since childhood and i became a lot like her. Yet my new step mom and I have to from a relationship so we dont get on each others nerves. The step children need to realize that there true parent is not going to pay as much attention to them. And that they need to try to get along with there step parents. The problem that most of them have is because they have to have an open mind to new things. They need to be able to get over the fact that there loved ones were broken up because of this new person and realize that there was a reason why it happened. But this is the hardest thing. Being in this situation before I know that it is hard to over look your feelings and look towards your parents and ther happiness.

The best thing about having step parents is that it makes my father and my mother happy. I have been able to overcome all of my feelings towards anybody or anything that happens. Plus I am the type of person who likes to love others, so I think of it as another way I can love someone that truely needs to feel loved by me. And vice versa.

The thought of step anything tends to make people crinch. Which is how everyone feels in the first years. The relationship has to be built and they have to learn to get along. The strengths and weaknesses need to be established and a line of authority needs to be drawn. I would never wish this on anyone; its a lot of work.

"Madness in great ones must not unwatched go."

Throughout many ages, the people that have authority and money normally rule the state. Those people chosen to rule can sometimes bend the rules in there favor or to help there fellow friends in need. There is evidence in this case has been shown throughout history. In Hamlet, King Claudius states "Madness in great ones must not unwatched go." This is evidence enough to show that the authoritative figures aren't necessarily always sane.

In any age, people with money and power always tend to go a little crazy. Or they do things that wouldn't necessarily be seen as favorable if they werent so rich and powerful. For instance in Hamlet, Claudis who recieves the thrown after King Hamlet dies marries his dead brothers wife. If Claudis wasnt the newly crowned king, he would have been denied the right to marry her. To some of the people in this time, the thought of the dead kings wife marrying with such little time to grieve would have brought upon thoughts that the queen was power hungry and never truely loved there lost and beloved king. Yet it was all okay because they were the ones appointed to rule all the people including the ones who could deny them the right to marry. So they could have used there power to get what they want, but they didnt have to.

In any day of age, there are great people who arent always doing the right thing. For example, the watergate scandal is a good example of people with power using it in corrupted ways. Here they are trying to cover up something by hiding the true things that happened which could have put them in prison. These people were always thinking that it was just something they made up and not really true until they actually found evidence on it. But not enough to accuse anyone. So there goes another mad man with power who was once considered great. Another example, would be in the 911 accident. In this accident after everything happened and the United States started looking for the corrupted people who would think about killing, all of the people gave in and confessed except for husain. He thought that because he had power in his country that they wouldnt try to find him and give him the punishment he deserve. And look now we have a war going on. Yet no one is his country know exactly why. These few people are reasons that our society has decided to keep a watch on the great ones.

When it comes to keeping an eye on the great ones, I think that the prime example of societies not being kept up on would be in the State of California. It was projected that in February of this up coming year the state is going to run out of money. However if someone was actually keeping an eye on this, our state would have been able to find a way out of this predicament and we could have already have solved some of our issues. In shasta county alone we are building new bridges that don't have to be built. Like the one by airport road crossing the river. The bridge that is already there is perfectly suitable for travelers, so the new one is our county just trying to be flashy, which right now our state cant afford for our county's trying to be flashy and building unneccesary things. Our state should also start trying to devy up the money that goes towards mental health, education, special education, firefighters, police officers, and decide which is more important. If our state was being kept in balance and being watched closely then we wouldnt be having this problem right now.

In the end, the people with power should be watched upon very closely. They dont need to have the temptations on becoming mad or corrupt because once it happens they will never go back to the same before they were corrupt. Plus these people should be carefully watched. There spending adventures need to be on record and also all of the projects that they want to start should be approved by a higher authority or by a board. This would be a great way to keep everything sane.

Thinker

To choose between being a thinker and a doer was quiet easy for me because I know that I tend to over analyze almost everything that happens in my life. I am not the type of person to just go out and do something without having it planned out ahead of time. Sometimes i am very spontaneous but when it comes to doing something big, like traveling, I like to have my days planned out. I like to know about all of my options and think about the consequences or let downs of each before i make a decision.
Being a thinker can have some down falls. For instance, I would never do something like bungee jumping unless I knew everything that it detailed. My friends kinda get angry with me because i make them think about there options and what they are gonna do and how it can affect others. I dont like it when I cant find a reason for something happening. I would never put my life in danger ot spend a lot of money unless thinking it all through. Which are some of the reasons people call me cautious.
However being a thinker also has its upsides. You always know what you are going to do and know that nothing bad can happen. I wont get my heart broken because i think about giving those things away. I will always have a back up plan no matter what.
Therefore i think that being a thinker is better than being a doer because I will always know the outcome.

To what extent do parents have the right to "spy" on their children?

Polonius is spying on Ophelia and Hamlet. Polonius is Ophelia's father and thinks that Hamlet and Ophelia have a relationship going on. In this case, I think that her parents should be spying on Ophelia because she hasnt been being truthful. She hasnt told her dad that she likes Hamlet, so her dad had to improvise. And I think that it is completely okay that he is spying on his daughter, because I think that all children should tell there parents the truth. So that when there parents decided to spy on them, they will have nothing new to find out.
However I dont think that parents need to spy all the time. There needs to be a bond between the parents and the children that should be built when they are little. Therefore, parents need to have some trust in there kids. And the way they raised there children. Therefore, I think that it is highly dependant on the child and how honest the kid is.
But i think that children have too much free time to surf the web and research something that should be supervised. I know that some kids have got caught looking up naughty things on the internet or watching bad movies and when parents look at those type of things I think it is completely okay. The only time when I dont think that a parent should be spying is when there child has done nothing to make them not trust them. I truely believe that everyone is innocent til proven guilty.

Thriftness

I think that people being thrifty should last past the ressecion, yet it wont. Everyone in today's society is materialistic. People are always trying to out do there neighbor so when they finally actually have money, they are gonna spend it.
The rich people are not gonna be impacted at all by the ending of the recession because nothing ever changed in there spending ventures. The middle class and poor people will end up treating themselves to something expensive.
My family was never the big spender type. My dad is very tight with his money yet my step mom likes to treat herself. So every once in a while my dad will let Barb go out and spend a lot of money on herself. Therefore we slowed a little bit but not too much. My dad likes to treat himself because he is a hard working man. However my other family members have slowed a little bit. My cousin moved back in with his parents, because he couldnt afford the rent and utilites with his new job.
Therefore i believe that when the recession ends people are gonna become more independant and very selfish again. Thats why I think that the recession is a good way to get peoples spendings in check.

Revenge Story!!!!

Remember when you are little. Well I can remember being the middle child and always wanting what my eldest sister had. She always got to go and do everything that she wanted. Well this mad me very jealous. So when her friends would come over, i would try to spy on them when they were outside. And i remember that one day when i was following them, they went down by the creek at our house. Well they were meeting boys. And there was the boy that my sister has liked for the longest time. So being the coniving little sister that i was, i continued to watch them. Then i saw that my sister and this boy were going away from the crowd a little bit. They ended up behing this tree branch. And i was on the other side of it. At first i heard them talking, then out of no where i heard the sound of a kiss. That was it i just busted her during her first kiss. So i jumped out from behind the other side and started running towards the house telling her that she was gonna be grounded forever. This made me really happy until she took me down and told me that if i didnt tell she would let me do somethings with her. So of course i kept the secret. Until, all of her friends were gonna go to the movies and I really wanted to go and she said no. That was it I told my mom no longer than two weeks later. Yet she didnt get in that much trouble, i was so mad. Yet i learned to never trust anyone who has something you dont want them to know.

College Options

Today college seems like a thing we have to do. However, the main reason most people are going on to college is because they made choices to be able to go and recieve a degree higher than there high school diploma. The percentage of people getting into college and actually getting a degree has increased since 2003. The main reason for this increase is because of college options.
College options is important because it helps a lot of student reach there goals and go to college. It helps with getting a jump start into college and letting students feel how the college life is. It also makes sure that the students are passing and helps them if they are not. Its a good way to get ahead of the game.
The statewide average of people with a degree higher then post-high school degrees is 29.5% where as the county is only 18.8%. Even though these numbers are not very close. Our county is not too bad compared to some others.
A reason why the averages are so different, is because the state has a lot more of a range as the county doesnt. Plus shasta county only has four major colleges. And some people dont think they will be able to pay for college, so they dont go. Plus people tend to just go and start working a full time job to support there families. A lot of women are getting pregant around sixteen now a days which is not good at all, but they have to support there children, therefore they think they can not go to college and they have to start a job. Shasta County also has a lot of people who get married or ingaged to a military man and they travel around with there significant other rather than staying home and waiting. However our numbers have increased since college options has started helping out the high school students.

Silver Lining

In my opinion, our economy is not as bad as the economy in 1930's and the fact that was said really irritated me because we have not gotten that bad yet. Our ecoonomy just needs a little boosting. People need to learn how to save yet they also need to spend money because if we dont then the little businesses will go out of business. Therefore people need to manage there money in a way that can help the economy and themselves in the future. So i agree and disagree with this article. But i also think that by telling people the economy is going down, will increase fear of losing jobs and belongings. If we stop coming up with new inventions and telling people its the cool thing to do, then in return people will stop buying the new technology.

Advertising Drugs

I believe that perscription drugs should not be advertised on the television. First of prescription drugs should only be known of by the doctors, the public doesnt need to know all of the drugs out there. Especially because there are a lot of people that just wants someone to feel sorry for them, so they can make up the symptons for the drug, just so they can take it. Plus the public doesnt necessarily know the side effects off the drugs being advertised. Most advertisements just show everything good about the drug, and everything that is bad just gets put in a little corner or is in really tiny hand writing. Therefore the public doesnt generally know about the drug that they think they want to be on. Another reason would be all of the people addicted to drugs that would just like to take anything they can get there hands on. People that arent doctors dont need to know what the drug is used for. Plus there are a lot of other side effects that arent shown on tv that most people never know about if they go and get it perscribed unless they read the fine print. Therefore, i dont believe that drugs should be advertised on the television.

After High School Plans

I am gonna go to college to be a registered nurse. I want to be a nurse, so I can help other people as a profession. Because i really enjoy making other people happy and i always thought it would be the coolest thing to do. I am gonna go to Shasta because they have an excellent nursing program and close to home. The nursing progam at Shasta will help me obtain my goal of becoming a nurse. Therefore i can still live with my parents and i dont have to rely on myself for everything. Plus shasta is affordable and i will have a bunch of friends going there too. And at his moment someone is going through the nursing progam up there and is gonna hle pme through it when i take it.
Plus i hope to start working at a long term health care facility while going to school. To help pay for all of my schooling.
After schooling, i hope to either stay in california or move to the east so that i can have fun while working and hopefully raise a family.

"Nice Bailout; now pay for it."

I think, that these banks got themselves in trouble by making poor investment, which makes it there job to bail themselves out. I dont believe that we as tax payers should have to bail them all out. But however the alternative isnt so wonderful either. I think that we should help some of the major banks but not every single last one that went into trouble. Therefore it isnt so much money and yet the economy wont go so far down. But i dont think it should be the sole responsiblity of tax payers. I think the government should lower there spending costs and also have the hedgers pay tax on there incomes. So that we can only help those particular banks and get us out of our major debt from this and the war. How coudl we even think about going into further debt when we are already borrowing money from china to help pay for the war. Therefore i am in the middle with this one because no matter what way you go its a lose-lose situation.

Binge Drinking

Binge drinking is the cause of many things in the United States. One of the major things that college students do because they drink is they are more sexually active. Which in turns increases the teenage pregnancy rate. Plus it increases the spread of diseases and can ruin someones reputation. That is why i believe that the drinking age should stay the same.
When a young adult finally turns eighteen, they recieve the responsibility of being independant and not having to go to school. And when they finally graduate, they become stressed and are getting ready to leave there parents house and pay there own bills. This in turn causes them to be highly tense. Most college students see that drinking is a way to lose connection with the real world and have fun. But in reality it makes them do things they shouldnt. They aren't ready to have the burden of drinking put on them.
When the prohibiton happened, everyone wanted to hide the drinking. And that is the main cause of underage drinking. People like to have the excitment of doing something they aren't supposed to do. So even if you lowered it then younger teenagers would start to binge drink. Plus if you truely think of it, maybe we should actually id them when they go to the store and buy alcohol, because most people don't and anyone can buy some alcohol. The ones who can't have there parents or older frineds buy it for them.
When people decided to drink they are putting themselves at risk for many things. One of these being sexually transmitted diseases. Drinking causes people to lose there since of morals and they feel on top of the world. Therefore, they decided to have sexual intercourse. Which is the cause of teenage pregnancy. Which leads to more adoption agencies. In turn, people justl ike to have a reason to lose connection with the real world.
That is why i believe that the drinking age should stay the same. If you lower them, then we will ahve younger people drinking and probably more people smoking pot or other dangerous things.

Energy

The United States has began working on alternate energy sources. However, none of the sources have been perfected or put to use. But i think that with ethanol and wind turbines, we are coming close to have at least one solid alternate energy source. But i think that he wind would be a better investment because we can't run out of wind like we can other resources such as corn for ethanol. One of the biggest things about finding a new energy, is making sure the resource wont run dry, and getting people to buy and use it. For example, ethanol would be an excellent discovery, but what happens when we exhaust the soil and can't produce large amounts of corn. That's why i think that ethanol could be used, but i think that wind turbines would be a better investment and better energy source to have people use in there houses, the office, and businesses. Where as, ethanol would be the best for cars and motor vehicles. Because you can easily convert it into a gasoline.
My family has changed our driving habits a little bit. This summer instead of having many vacations we only had about one and people decided to carpool. My dad and some friends decided that they are gonna carpool, so he thought i should too, but because i don't have a fifth period its hard to find another person that leaves that early too. Plus we have cut down just driving for the heck of it all.
We haven't really cut down on anything that has to do with the heating and cooling of our house.

LHC

I believe that the reason we have advanced so much in science is because we have taken risks. However, this could potentially end the world. But i don't really have enough facts to say weather or not it should be turned on. I do know however that if it was successful it could continue to help scientist understand how the world began, or at least how matter is made. But in the article i read, it said that they tested it to make sure there was no leaks. But what happens if someone came in and sabotaged it more than just putting beer bottles in the pipes. This could be a potentially way for people to terrorize the whole world.
Therefore, I can't really decide on weather or not to turn it on because the pros and cons are almost equal.

Sir Galehaut

Sir Galehaut was a companion of Lancelot. He was the son of Brunor. He was the king of Sorelois. He had several titles: Lord of the Distant Isles, Uncrowned King, Haut Prince. Galehaut had conquered Sorelois, and thirty other kingdoms. Galehaut refused to be crowned until he conquered Logres, the kingdom of King Arthur. When Galehaut invaded Logres Lancelot had just conquered Dolorous. When they were in battle, Lancelot wanted to become friends with Galehaut because of the way he fought. Galehaut and Lancelot became friends during the third battle against Arthur. Lancelot agreed to become friends with Galehaut if he surrendered to Arthur at the moment of victory in the battle. He didnt just surrender he became friends with Arthur, Guinevere, and Gawain. Galehaut helped Arthur in the war against the Saxons where he, Lancelot, and Hector became the Knights of the Round Table.

When Galehaut returned to his kingdom, he learned that his friendship with Lancelot would casue his own death, which upset Lancelot. They stayed in the kingdom until Guinevere was imprisoned. So Galehaut offered his kingdom so the Guinevere could reconcile with Arthur at a later date.

When Galehaut believed that Lancelot was dying, he fell ill and died ten days later. Lancelot would later rebury Galehaut in teh tomb at Joyeuse Guard.

Three Heros

During my life i have encounter many people, but out of those people only a few have made a difference in my life. These people seem like normal people and live normal lives. But they have changed me and the way i look at different things. My hero's are my sister, Kim, and my Dad. A hero is defined in the way the lead there lives and how they help others while being themselves. In the following paragraphs are the reasons why they are my hero.
My sister, Lisa, is my hero because she was always looking out for me and making sure i accomplished my goals. She also taught me how to be my own person even through peer pressure. Lisa has always been my go to girl when i didn't know something or i needed help. She told me that no matter what i will be something great. When she went to the navy she apologized to me for not being able to be here now because we had a bond that most sisters don't have. It was almost like we were best friends that always had a sleepover. She is becoming the person that I expected her to be.
My dad is my hero because he always provided for our family no matter what he had to do at work. He works all day long at the mill, then comes home and is a great father to his daughter. He also go and helps out his friends that need him to lift or just need some where to stay. My dad taught me how to fish, hunt, and be a tom boy. He has always been there for me to cry on his shoulder or just vent about all the high school drama. I admire that he puts me before his work.
Kim is my hero because she has been the only person who is consistent throughout my life. She started raising me when she was twenty years old, and i was five. She taught me how to clean, be a mom, and how to be a professional. Even though she decided to leave my dad, she has never stopped being there for me. She is always there when i need advice or i just want to hang out with her. I admire the way she juggles her life, with bills and keeping the house in order and having free time to have fun after work.
Even though to you these are just ordinary people, to me they have impacted how i act and the person i have become today. Plus they have all stood behind me with every decision i have made. That is what makes a true hero.

What does Beowulf learn from his battles with Grendel and Grendel's mother?

When Beowulf is in the battle with Grendel and his mom, he learns how to be tactful and resourceful. He learns that battles don't always go as planned and that sometimes improvising might be necessary. An example of this is when the sword he took underwater wouldn't kill Grendel's mother, so he had to use the resources he had under water. In the end he ended up using the only sword that would kill Grendel's mother, that he found while he was in battle with her.

I also think he learned that to be a great king he needs to make sacrifices that have the best interest of his people. Whether it was a military or personal sacrifice. In this case it was to sacrifice himself and some of the geats to serve in another city to hopefully help out his fellow men, even though it didn't directly effect him.
