Sir Galehaut

Sir Galehaut was a companion of Lancelot. He was the son of Brunor. He was the king of Sorelois. He had several titles: Lord of the Distant Isles, Uncrowned King, Haut Prince. Galehaut had conquered Sorelois, and thirty other kingdoms. Galehaut refused to be crowned until he conquered Logres, the kingdom of King Arthur. When Galehaut invaded Logres Lancelot had just conquered Dolorous. When they were in battle, Lancelot wanted to become friends with Galehaut because of the way he fought. Galehaut and Lancelot became friends during the third battle against Arthur. Lancelot agreed to become friends with Galehaut if he surrendered to Arthur at the moment of victory in the battle. He didnt just surrender he became friends with Arthur, Guinevere, and Gawain. Galehaut helped Arthur in the war against the Saxons where he, Lancelot, and Hector became the Knights of the Round Table.

When Galehaut returned to his kingdom, he learned that his friendship with Lancelot would casue his own death, which upset Lancelot. They stayed in the kingdom until Guinevere was imprisoned. So Galehaut offered his kingdom so the Guinevere could reconcile with Arthur at a later date.

When Galehaut believed that Lancelot was dying, he fell ill and died ten days later. Lancelot would later rebury Galehaut in teh tomb at Joyeuse Guard.
